Freedom Hall Arena Louisville

Located in the nearby Kentucky Exposition Center, and less than a ten-minute drive from the Holiday Inn Southwest Fair & Expo Center hotel, is the multi-purpose Freedom Hall arena. Freedom Hall has been the home of the University of Louisville Cardinals basketball team for the past 54 years. U of L played their final game at Freedom Hall on March 6th, 2010, which they won against top-ranked Syracuse, as the crowd cheered on, dressed in red. Beginning Oct 2010, the Cards will relocate to their new arena, the KFC Yum! Center.

Opened in 1956, Freedom Hall has been the site of many prestigious NCAA basketball games, including the 2001 and 2003 Conference USA Basketball Tournaments, nine Metro Conference Basketball Tournaments, and six NCAA Finals.

With a capacity of more than 19,000 and a maximum arena floor of 39,000 sq ft, Freedom Hall can be used for a variety of different events, including

  • Wrestling
  • Conventions
  • Tradeshows
  • Horse Shows

All permanent seats at Freedom Hall are equipped with a chair back and armrests, giving you room to spread out. From every seat in Freedom Hall, you have a great view of the center-hung video scoreboard. The four-sided, multi-image, video system offers spectators a 9 ft by 12 ft view of the action. For smaller events, the arena can be reconfigured to accommodate a crowd of 6,000 or more.

Freedom Hall features 6 office suites, and 24 private suites, both available for lease and located off the main level concourse. The main VIP suite holds a capacity up to 314, and with 2,760 sq ft, it boasts two permanent bars, full carpet, closed-circuit TV monitors, and a large glass window-front overlooking the grounds. The ballroom holds a capacity up to 448, and with 7,162 sq ft, it features all tile floors and a permanent bar.
